Kermit the Frog is Jim Henson's most iconic Muppet creation, first appearing in 1955 on the local Washington, D.C. show Sam and Friends. He rose to global fame as the pragmatic host of The Muppet Show (1976–81) and as a featured performer on Sesame Street. Kermit has headlined numerous Muppet films starting with The Muppet Movie (1979), and his songs "Bein' Green" and "Rainbow Connection" remain among the franchise's most beloved. He has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
